Role: Data Analyst – Accounts Payable
Location: Blackburn, BB1 2FA (relocating to Bolton)
Contract: Full Time / Permanent

About the Role:

We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Data Analyst to join our transactional finance department at EG Group. As a Data Analyst, you will be diving into accounts payable data, uncovering trends, spotting inefficiencies, and helping us shape smarter, faster processes.

This is your chance to mix your love of data with real business impact, from keeping our vendors happy to driving automation and ensuring compliance. You won’t just be crunching numbers; you’ll be helping transform the way our finance function operates across the globe.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Turning AP data into actionable insights (dashboards, reports, and metrics like DPO, invoice cycle time, payment accuracy)
  • Partnering with AP, TSS, and wider Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and improve workflows
  • Supporting month-end close with reconciliations and reporting
  • Spotting duplicate payments, vendor issues, and compliance exceptions before they become problems
  • Getting hands-on with automation and optimisation initiatives
  • Keeping vendor master data updated and audit-ready
  • Supporting projects and ensuring compliance with ICFR, VAT, ISO9001 and future SOX
  • Providing ad-hoc analysis to senior finance leaders

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience using SAP (essential)
  • Finance or accounting qualifications (or working towards them) and/or proven experience in a financial setting (essential)
  • Experience of working in a fast paced / transactional environment (Essential)
  • Strong Excel skills with confidence handling complex spreadsheets
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • A strong team player who can collaborate effectively with others
  • Results-driven with a track record of delivering against KPIs and SLAs
  • Able to manage time and workload effectively, balancing multiple priorities
  • Comfortable working with large data sets, analysing transactions, and interpreting financial information
